Divergent Melodies (chamber music, 2015)

"Divergent Melodies" is a chamber music composition for winds, piano, and percussion. This piece demonstrates my preference for quirky, driving rhythms, and the more accessible side of my melodic writing. The piece was commissioned, performed, and recorded by the North Carolina New Music Initiatve and the ECU Chamber Winds.

Sonata for Solo 17-Tone Guitar (2019)

This is a solo composition written and recorded for a unique 17-notes-per-octave microtonal guitar. It emphasizes the pungent harmonic and melodic possibilities of this tuning system, while also exploring maze-like quasi-serialist textures. The middle movement adds a touch of heavy metal distortion and technique. The first performance was given by the composer at the Beyond 2020 Microtonal Music Festival in Pittsburgh. The performance was described as "engaging" by I Care If You Listen.

Utopia of Machinery by Monochromatic Residua (2021)

This is the third track from an EP by my Pittsburgh/Cleveland based microtonal death metal band Monochromatic Residua. I serve as guitarist, co-vocalist, and co-songwriter for this project. The band's music has been described as "among the most unique takes on technical death metal I've heard this year" by Metal Injection, as "fit to make your head spin" by Toilet ov Hell, and as "a great tasting pour of the kind of experimental metal that’s floating around Bandcamp right now" by Stereogum.

Triads and Arpeggios (electronic music, 2022)

"Triads and Arpeggios" is a lightly randomized electroacoustic work, where synth sounds explore various simple chords and arpeggios in the 17-tone system within a tangled web of polyrhythms. Noise percussion adds rhythmic drive throughout. The piece is featured on a full-length solo album of my microtonal music for guitar and electronics released by New Focus Recordings. KLANG - New Music On The Fringe describes the composition as "a delightful kaleidoscopic microtonal soundworld."

Four Grids (chamber music/math rock, 2018)

"Four Grids" is a chamber music/math rock composition for sax and drums. The piece was commissioned and performed by the Cleveland based Patchwork duo. Cleveland Classical described the piece as "funky, raucous, and delightfully unhinged."

Powerline by AutoReplicant (2019)

This is the third track from an album by my Pittsburgh based thrash/grind band AutoReplicant. I serve as guitarist and co-songwriter for this project. The band's music has been described as "like hitting up a high-end buffet in the rich part of town: you want to try everything and throw as much on your plate as will fit" by Decibel Magazine.

Soft Ceiling by Night Vapor (2018)

"Soft Ceiling" is track 2 from the album 1,000 Miles of Mud by Night Vapor, who were a Pittsburgh based metallic no-wave band where I served as guitarist and co-songwriter. We were active from 2012-2019. Our records were released on vinyl by Corpse Flower and Mind Cure. Captured Howls said of the band's music "there’s a near constant sense that Night Vapor are one step away from falling into utter chaos at any point. Every note gets strained through the same meat grinder the vocals get put through, laying down a rugged path that remains entirely the band’s own." The Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette said the band "is a level of metallic sludge and grime you don’t get from your garden-variety noise band, rife with atonal guitar work, lurching rhythms and the most guttural utterances." We played numerous shows, including Berserker Fest in Detroit, PRF BBQ in Louisville, and the Descendants of Crom Fest in Pittsburgh.
